How can the bible teach that God loves all of his children and then turn around to say that he hates homosexuals? Which is it? How can it be both? Is it a contradiction just like most things in the bible.

The Bible teaches that God loves every human being, certainly including homosexuals. Because God is Creator, his essence is love (1 John 4:7-18). Whether a person accepts or follows God, hates Him or loves Him back, He loves. What's more, the Bible teaches that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:28-39). What's understood is that not even sin separates from the love of God. That's possible because his love is the agape. Agape is divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing..

Since God's essence is love, is He capable of hate? Yes, but His "hate" is due to His exalted holiness. Holiness can never co-exist with anything beneath it. God loves us (people) but He simultaneously hates sin (our actions that do not reflect His holiness). We see the same thing with a human father who loves his child, but will not love the child's stealing or violence.

Additionally, the Bible is not contradictory, but to a person who has not come into relationship with God which gives Biblical revelation through the Holy Spirit, the Bible can certainly seem contradictory. Jesus said, "the words that I speak to you they are spirit and life" (John 6:63). It may be like reading a letter meant only for someone else's eyes.
